History Optometry Challenge conference

The history of the Optometry Challenge conference began in 2020 - during the COVID-19 pandemic and strict lockdown, when offline events became impossible, and professional meetings existed only in the format of hope.

In these conditions, two independent projects were organized:

Optometry Challenge 2020 - a purely scientific conference

Optometry Brand 2020 - an event with an emphasis on communication between the profession and brands

These events were the first in Ukraine, where science was fundamentally separated from commercial influence, and the information provided to the audience was as unbiased, reliable and practically applicable as possible. This allowed participants to take a fresh look at optometry and vision science as a holistic system.

In 2021, the focus of the conference was on the problem of myopia: leading researchers, clinicians and educators discussed modern approaches to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this refractive anomaly.

The conference on binocular disorders and strabology, planned for 2022, did not take place due to the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, which suspended numerous initiatives.

In 2025, we are restoring the tradition of a conference that specialists in optometry and ophthalmology have been eagerly awaiting. It returns with a new theme, even deeper content and the same goal - to unite science, practice and the professional environment.

Working languages of the conference

Conference materials and reports are accepted in three languages:

  • Ukrainian
  • English
  • Russian (allowed for participants from countries other than the Russian Federation)

In order to ensure accessibility and international interaction, all reports must be translated into one of the main languages of the conference. Translation is carried out in advance, in accordance with the requirements for submitting presentations.

Ukrainian will be used for localization of conference materials and interaction with the Ukrainian team of the organizing committee. The translation of the reports of English-speaking speakers will be carried out into Russian due to the participation of participants from other countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia and others).

Financial policy of participation

1. Participation of speakers is free of charge. None of the lecturers or speakers pay fees for participation in the conference

2. No remuneration is provided. In accordance with the principles of impartiality and academic independence, speakers do not receive fees or other forms of material compensation

3. Attendees pay a registration fee. The funds raised are used exclusively for organizational needs, including:

technical support for the broadcast

translation of reports

design of materials

registration of the event with the Ministry of Health

4. The cost of participation in 2025 is:

4500 UAH - standard cost of participation

4000 UAH - for graduates of the Academy (upon confirmation of status)

5. The amount of the contribution may vary depending on the date of registration and payment. We recommend registering in advance
